There are only two Children's Programs left , and Saturday is a great one! Hank the Cowdog will visit the Eagle Outpost in Brewster Hall ( store info) and you're invited! We'll read stories, do fun activities and guess what treat we'll share with everyone? You'll have to come to see! Saturday, April 28 at 11!

Mom!

Does your son or daughter go to EWU? Are they somewhat forgetful about little things like...Mother's Day approaching? We have the solution!

Beginning Wednesday, May 2 and continuing May 3, 4, 7, 8 and 9th we will be again be offering our free photo card for Mother's Day! Your student just has to come in to the Bookstore between 1 and 3 those days (and those days only!) and we will take their photograph for free--then place it on a custom greeting card and even mail it for them! All they have to do is show up, wear something presentable (this is for MOM, for pete's sake! And please no other schools' hats or shirts) and we'll take care of the rest.

Last year's event was a huge success, with dozens of students taking advantage of this offer. Get in on the fun!

A Major Announcement!

We've received some inquiries on where to get Graduation announcements. Josten's is the supplier of announcements for the University Bookstore, and they are available through their website. Just choose "College" and you'll be lead to EWU's page; there you can order announcements, diploma frames and more. Get your order in soon, as they take two weeks to ship!

If you're graduating this year, congratulations! We now have honor cords at the Customer Service counter at the Cheney campus Bookstore. And, of course, we have caps, gowns and tassels available, too! Honor cords are free.

If you're ordering your cap and gown via our website we'll automatically check to see if you're entitled to a Bachelor's honor cord and include it in your shipment.

Remember we'll be open the morning of Commencement--June 17--for those last-minute cap and gown purchases!

President's Investiture

The ceremony that installs Dr. Rodolfo Arévalo as Eastern's 25th President is today at 1pm at Showalter Hall. The University Bookstore will have a table there featuring books by the many authors appearing at this week's Get Lit! Festival. We join the Eastern community in celebrating this occasion!

Another day at the Office

Many of you have been coming into the Bookstore to purchase Microsoft Office 2007 for Windows, and we sure would like to sell it to you! As is typical of academic versions (particularly those affordable versions made available through your Tech Fee, which current students pay as part of their tuition) it will be the last version Microsoft makes available for purchase, hoping most users will buy the more expensive versions first.

Currently Office 2007 and the Vista OS are expected in May, but exactly when we have no idea. Keep checking this space and the daily Focus news sheet distributed around campus for an announcement when we receive them in. In the meantime, if you're a current student and need Office, we have copies of Office 2003 available now, with an upgrade option for Office 2007 we think you'll like. Come by the Computer Sales department at the Cheney Campus Bookstore today!

Ordering your Commencement Gear

Your Graduation Day is approaching! You can, of course, come into the Bookstore on the Cheney campus or in the Spokane HEC any time we're open to buy your cap, gown and tassel. The Cheney campus Bookstore will even be open the morning of Commencement if you want to wait until the last minute--and many of you do!

When ordering your regalia, remember these basics: If you're getting your Bachelor's Degree, you need a cap, Bachelor's gown and black tassel. If you're getting your Master's, you need a cap, Master's gown and the hood/tassel combo. We are happy to ship them out to you, too! Normal shipping charges apply.

Paper or Website?

If you're one of the thousands of alums that received our catalog inserted in your Fall issue of Eastern magazine, you may have decided to purchase one of the items online only to discover you couldn't find it here on the website.

Keep in mind we print the paper catalog (copies of which we can mail to you if you fill out this form, including your name and mailing address) in September, so by now, we've run out of some of the items contained therein. However, in some cases, we might have pulled it off the website only because we're out of a majority of sizes or colors.

You can always just give us a call at our toll-free phone number for EWU merchandise: 1.888.524.5124. We can look on the sales floor to see if we just might have one or two of that sweatshirt left in the size you want! If we don't, sometimes we do have a great alternative we can suggest, too.

Eastern is fortunate to have so many talented students--and some have even recorded CDs so you can have a listen! The latest CD we've received is by Quincy Tolliver, who goes by the name QT Beats. Once again the EWU Press is hosting the annual Get Lit! Festival here in Cheney and in Spokane, offering author presentations, workshops and more featuring some of today's leading authors. The EWU Bookstore is proud to carry titles by all the authors this year and once again we'll be present at many of the events, selling the author's books, including at Walter Mosely's speech at Showalter Hall on Friday, April 20th. Attention Muggles!

If you're a Harry Potter fan and will be in Cheney this summer, the place to pick up the last Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is at the EWU Bookstore's Eagle Outpost, just off campus at 404 2nd St in Brewster Hall! We will be hosting another HUGE Harry Potter party leading up the midnight release of the book. Mark your calendars NOW for the event, Friday, July 20. Details to come!

Buyback Every Day

Every quarter the EWU Bookstore contracts with a textbook wholesaler to set up outside the store and buy back your textbooks. They are usually set up the last two weeks of the quarter and the first two days of the new quarter here at the Cheney campus, with additional dates in Spokane (additional info on how Buyback works can be found here).

When the wholesaler isn't present, though, you can still sell your textbooks back during regular business hours at both the Cheney Campus Bookstore Customer Service counter and the Eagle Outpost in Brewster Hall! We give you what the current market demand is for the book--no vouchers, no credits, no messing with this pesky internet--just cash!

So even though you've missed the wholesaler camped outside the Bookstore--and the lines they often have--you can still sell your book back!

This does not affect books you've purchased this quarter for use now. You can return any book it turns out you don't need by bringing in the book and your receipt (no refunds without a receipt!) to any open register. The deadline for a full refund is Friday, April 13. After that, you can still sell your book back at the Customer Service counter!

Now that we're in Spring Quarter we're officially heading towards the end of the school year--and warmer weather is around the corner! Children's Program success!

We had a terrific time Saturday at the Eagle Outpost in Brewster Hall when our monthly Children's Program featured Fairys! Kids and their parents built fairy houses for the wee folk and listened to stories about our forest friends! More pictures here!
